A Luxury Galley Kitchen with Accessibility Considerations
This kitchen was for a lady who had some specific physical requirements due to her height and arthritis. In addition the dimensions and shape of the room resulted in some design options not being viable.
Our client wanted a painted traditional style kitchen but in a contemporary colour. They also wanted it to look and feel luxurious. A rich Marine Blue was chosen as the colour and Cosentino Sensa Vancouver quartzite as the surface material. Traditional polished chrome cup handles then influenced the choose of electrical fittings and the Quooker tap finish.
The galley style layout makes best use of the room dimensions, taking account of the entrances and ceiling height. The tall cabinets clearly needed to be accessible to our client. The wall space is valuable in a galley kitchen but for this customer they mainly provide the luxury element.
The in-frame shaker doors met the traditional feel our client was seeking. We achieved a contemporary twist through the marine blue colour chosen for the doors. Before finalising the colour we had a sample door made. As well as confirming the colour the sample door was valuable in selecting the surfaces.
Overall the kitchen design demonstrates how we listen very closely to what each client wants, as well as what they need.
