Painted Matte Stone and Sage Green
This project required a traditional inframe-painted shaker-style kitchen. Our customer's overriding requirement was a kitchen that was in keeping with the restored, open plan ground floor of his 18th Century farmhouse.
To complement the exposed brickwork, we specified our in-frame, solid ash shaker door painted in Stone, complemented by a mixture of brass knob handles for doors and cup handles for drawers. For the island, we used a contrasting Sage Green. The island features a combination of pan drawers and cupboards, room for bar stools and some open shelving for cookery books.
The customer wanted us to create a feature of the cream AGA he had purchased, so we designed a false chimney with an overmantle above it.
A large Belfast sink with a traditional brass mixer tap was specified and overlooks the garden from the window. In this run of units, we also included an 18-bottle wine cooler, AEG dishwasher and integrated fridge-freezer, and an AEG compact microwave oven to provide a quicker alternative to the AGA.
As with many old buildings, natural daylight was in short supply throughout the cottage. To improve this, the customer had installed large bifold doors in the living area which also provided some light in the kitchen. We also used glazed doors with internal lighting to brighten this area along with lighting above the AGA and feature pendant lights to illuminate the island. For the surfaces, we specified 20mm Dekton in 'Halo' to enhance a light feel to the kitchen.
Overall, the colours chosen created a brighter and airy kitchen, with plenty of room to move around the space.
