An Accessible Kitchen Design
This kitchen was for a lady who had some specific physical requirements due to her height and arthritis. In addition the dimensions of the room resulted in some design options not being viable.
Our client wanted a traditional style kitchen in contemporary colours.
What we produced was a galley style in-frame shaker design. The two single Neff ovens have been positioned lower than normal to take account of the physical requirements of our client. In addition they feature the latest slide and hide opening mechanisms. These are perfect in a galley kitchen, where space is limited. Most importantly they were a very practical option for our client, allowing her to get much closer to the oven openings.
The galley style layout makes best use of the room dimensions, taking account of the entrances and ceiling height. The tall cabinets clearly needed to be accessible to our client. The wall space is valuable in a galley kitchen so we introduced a plate rack and a book shelf.
The in-frame shaker doors met the traditional feel our client was seeking. We achieved a contemporary twist through the marine blue colour chosen for the doors. Before finalising the colour we had a sample door made. As well as confirming the colour the sample door was valuable in selecting the Antolini quartz worktops.
Overall the kitchen design demonstrates how we listen very closely to what each client wants, as well as what they need.
